Fun and Fellowship

At St. George United Methodist Church, we realize the importance of sharing our lives in Christian Fellowship.  We do this through barbecues, pancake breakfasts, hay rack rides, and however else the Spirit moves us.  Transformation of lives does not have to take place just in the church sanctuary!  God is with us wherever we are, and where ever there are two or more gathered in His name He is with us.

Softball Club Benefit BBQ

Every year, our church shares its parking lot with the St. George Recreation Commission’s softball field, used by youth from across the area.  We had a great time opening our doors to the players and fans for a pork barbecue.

Pancake Breakfasts

St. George United Methodist Church has a Pancake Feed almost every fall, purpose being simply to feed people in a fun, Christian atmosphere.  What a blessing to see people come together in His name, in His house to have a great breakfast and fellowship with fellow Christians. One way to meet God is through gatherings such as these, where the Church, the Body of Christ,  is living out Jesus’ Great Commission to, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19)

Pork Burger BBQ

Early spring, 2008, our furnace decided it was time to retire–permanently!  What do good United Methodists do?  We have a cookout and invite all our friends and neighbors!  On the 18th of October, we grilled pork burgers and for a small donation, friends and families of the church were presented with the opportunity to have fun and fellowship to help raise money to keep God’s house in tip-top working order.  We served about 250 people and raised a good portion of the funds to pay for the furnace.  We are worshiping today in a nice, toasty warm sanctuary, thanks to the efforts of many people who donated their food, time, and effort to this wonderful cause.  Many people came through the doors of our Fellowship Hall who had never been there before, which is always a tremendous blessing from God.

Zarger Family Benefit BBQ

In May the church sponsored a benefit hog roast for the Zarger family.  Marvin (back right) and Leslye Haller donated the hog to the church for the benefit.  We roasted the hog on a Friday at Kenny Stevenson’s (front right)house and served on Saturday evening. Fun was had by all and the Zarger family received a generous donation to help them recover from the fire.
